I can relate.
I made my training schedule two days ago.
We discovered over the weekend that the trip is not 300 km over 3 days. It is 400 km over 3 days. And they say we should be able to maintain 20 kph.
Are we crazy? Is it even possible?
The first two days are 140-150 km each. Um...last weekend I did a 30 km ride and was tired for the whole day.
(Jon is shaking his head).
Should we bail?
I know there are other trips we could sign up for, but this one is with our family. (By the way, family, if you guys decide you're not doing it, you MUST let us know as soon as you decide).
So. I have broken my training into bite-sized pieces. Each week I add 50 km to my total, so that by 2 1/2 weeks before the trip, I have a total of 300 for the week. And each week I do a longer ride, so that I will have done a 100 km ride before the trip. That's all happening in the next six weeks. (I ask again, are we crazy?) And the hard thing to swallow is that even with all that training, the trip itself will still be way more than we've ever done.
I might be panicking right now.
On Wednesday I did two hours on the trainer. People, I have other things to do during the day--like take care of a 9 month old girl!
You can track my weekly kilometers over on the side of this blog.
Here's hoping this all works out!

LISTEN! You will be fine! Talk to Sid about the Sched. Love you! Jenn
I am looking at a ride in Michigan for next year...and it will be in miles...about 283 over 6 days...how about joining me.
Dad
as your former coach (albeit not for cycling) i agree with jenn. you will rock and the trainer is way harder than the road.
you can do it!!!
ps remember our first ride ??
